You are not one thing.
The world tells you to find yourself, to be authentic, to live your truth. But the Christian knows better. Inside every believer exist two natures, two kingdoms, two gravitational pulls that can never be reconciled. The flesh and the Spirit are at war, and the battlefield is your soul.
This explains the chaos you feel.
The part of you that wants to pray and the part that wants to scroll. The part that reaches for Scripture and the part that reaches for escape. The part that loves your neighbor and the part that envies them. The part that forgives and the part that keeps score. You are not crazy. You are contested.
Two kingdoms are colliding in the space of your rib cage.
The kingdom of darkness held you completely before Christ. Every inch of your territory belonged to the enemy. But when you were born again, a new kingdom invaded. The Spirit of God planted His flag in your soul and declared war on everything that opposed His reign. The battle has raged ever since.
This is why following Christ feels like dying—because it is. The old nature does not surrender gracefully. It does not negotiate terms of peace. It fights for every inch of territory, every habit, every thought pattern, every affection it once controlled. And it will not stop fighting until you stop breathing.
Do not be discouraged by the battle. Its presence proves the invasion has begun. Dead men do not struggle. Occupied territory does not resist.
The war within you is evidence that the kingdom of God has arrived.
Keep fighting.
PRAYER: Father, I feel the collision of kingdoms within me. The flesh pulls one direction; the Spirit pulls another. I am weary of the war, but I will not surrender. Strengthen me for the battle. Help me yield to the Spirit and starve the flesh. May Your kingdom gain ground in me today. In Jesus' name. Amen.
REFLECTION: Which area of your life feels most contested right now? Where do you sense the flesh and Spirit most actively at war?
