The sword exposes before it heals.
You cannot treat a wound you will not examine. You cannot confess a sin you will not name. You cannot be freed from bondage you pretend does not exist. The first work of the Word is exposure—bringing into light what you have kept in darkness.
This is why many fear Scripture.
They know, instinctively, that if they truly engaged with the Word, it would show them things they do not want to see. It would illuminate the corners they have kept dark. It would expose the sins they have managed instead of mortified.
All are naked and exposed.
There is no hiding from the Word of God. It sees through your excuses. It penetrates your rationalizations. It strips away the stories you tell yourself about yourself and shows you what remains.
This is uncomfortable. But it is necessary.
A doctor who refuses to examine you cannot help you. A diagnosis you reject remains untreated. And a sin the Word exposes but you deny continues its destruction unopposed.
Let the sword expose.
Do not run from the passages that convict you. Do not skip the verses that make you uncomfortable. The exposure is not cruelty—it is the necessary first step of healing. You cannot be changed by truth you will not face.
Stand in the light. Let Scripture show you what is there.
PRAYER: Lord, I have hidden from Your Word because I feared what it would expose. No more. I stand in the light. Show me what needs to be seen. Expose what needs to be exposed. I trust Your exposure is the path to my healing. In Jesus' name. Amen.
REFLECTION: What has the Word been trying to show you that you have been refusing to see?
