You have made a treaty with the enemy.

Not publicly. Not formally. Not in any way that would show up in the record. But somewhere in the darkness, you signed an agreement. The Gibeonites deceived Joshua with moldy bread and worn-out sandals, pretending to be travelers from a far country. Joshua made a treaty with them without consulting the LORD. By the time the deception was discovered, the oath was binding, and Israel was yoked to a people God had commanded them to drive out. A treaty made in haste became a burden carried for generations. You drew a line through your soul and said, "This side is God's. That side is mine. And we will not interfere with each other."

This is the treaty you signed in secret.

It allows you to maintain a Christian reputation while preserving an unchristian reality. It gives you Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights while reserving Saturday nights and private browsers. It yields the public while protecting the private.

And you have convinced yourself this is wisdom. Balance. A realistic approach to an imperfect world.

But it is treason.

There is no treaty with darkness that does not cost you your soul. There is no partnership with lawlessness that does not corrupt your righteousness. There is no agreement with the enemy that he will honor. The treaty you signed in secret is the treaty that will destroy you in public. Lot thought he could live in Sodom without Sodom living in him. He pitched his tent toward the city, then moved inside the gate, then sat among the elders. By the time the angels came to drag him out, his sons-in-law laughed at his warnings and his wife looked back. The treaty with the city cost him nearly everything.

What partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? None. They cannot coexist. They cannot share territory. One must conquer the other.

The enemy knows this. That is why he offered the treaty. He knows that a truce is all he needs. He knows that if he can stop your advance, he can begin his. He knows that the territory you yield today, he will occupy tomorrow.

Tear up the treaty. Break the agreement. There is no negotiation with darkness.

No treaty with the enemy.

PRAYER: Lord, I confess the treaty I signed in secret. I divided my soul and gave part of it to darkness. I called it balance, but it was betrayal. Today I tear up the agreement. No more truces. No more negotiations. No more secret alliances. I am wholly Yours—every territory, every corner, every hidden room. The treaty is void. In Jesus' name. Amen.

ACTION: Name one specific area where you have made a "treaty" with sin—an agreement to coexist. Tear it up today. Declare war.
