You have misread His mercy.
God has been patient with you. He has not struck you down. He has not exposed you publicly. He has not given you what your sins deserve. And you have interpreted His patience as permission. His forbearance as approval. His kindness as confirmation that maybe your sin is not that serious after all.
But God's kindness is not permission. It is invitation.
The riches of His kindness are meant to lead you somewhere. Every day He does not judge is another day He is calling you home. Every moment of mercy is another opportunity for repentance. His patience is not passive; it is active—actively working to bring you to your knees.
Do not presume on what is meant to transform.
The man who mistakes kindness for permission is the man who is running out of time. Because kindness that is ignored becomes judgment that cannot be avoided. Patience that is presumed upon eventually expires. The invitation that is repeatedly rejected will one day be withdrawn.
How long has God been patient with you about this particular sin? How long has He extended kindness while you extended rebellion? How many times has He given you opportunity for repentance that you have used for continuation?
His kindness is still being offered. The invitation is still extended. Repentance is still possible.
But do not presume forever on what is meant to transform today.
PRAYER: Lord, I have misread Your mercy. I have interpreted Your patience as permission and Your kindness as approval. Forgive me. I see now that Your kindness was meant to lead me to repentance—and I have used it to continue in sin. Today I stop presuming. Today I respond to Your invitation. Lead me to repentance, Lord. In Jesus' name. Amen.
ACTION: Identify one area where you have been presuming on God's patience. Let His kindness lead you to repentance today—not tomorrow.
